Shaher Abdullateef is an independent researcher. In 2014, he gained his PhD in Hydroponics and Biotechnology from Humboldt University, Berlin. Since 2015, he has been based in Turkey and working on several issues related to Food Security and Higher Education. He is the local agricultural expert in the EU-funded “Governance project” for governance and strategic planning in Syria, led by the Assistance and Coordination Unit (NGO). He is the PI of both the e-learning research and Capacity Building governance and resilience study and was a co-researcher in several studies related to Higher Education, and Food Security and Livelihoods in Syria. He has professional skills in research, teaching, project management, and coaching of different agricultural engineers and farmer groups. He has recently collaborated with international researchers from Cambridge University, Kent University, Reading University, University College London and Edinburgh University. He is interested in concepts of governance, sustainable development and networking. He is a leader of the Syrian Food Security and Livelihood research group and an active researcher at Cara Syria program. He is an active member in wide international academic networks. He is currently involved at a Network of expertise on Food & Health Security in Fragile and Conflict-Affected States to support displaced academics in the Levant for the co-development of interdisciplinary research approaches & strategies for a successful transition away from humanitarian provision of short-term food supplies and agriculture inputs towards long-term planning for food security. He has a strong partnerships and coordination with multi-stakeholder networks including local councils, local communities, engineer groups, local and international NGOs and academics.
